Because CLT & Associates is a boutique injury law firm, you can expect a more personal experience. We’re responsive to our clients. We value the relationships we build with them. We seek accountability from those who caused our clients harm.

CLT & Associates works on a contingency fee basis, meaning you pay no attorney’s fees unless we win.

Having previously worked for large banks and insurers, Attorney Christopher L. Thompson understands how these institutions operate in legal arenas – and what it takes to win. The goal is to expediently see each client fairly compensated for losses suffered due to someone else’s negligence.

Serious injury, illness or death resulting from another’s wrongdoing can leave you reeling. The process of hiring an injury attorney can seem overwhelming. Still, it’s an important first step to regaining your financial footing and turning the page on this painful chapter.

The injury law firm you choose can make all the difference in the outcome of your case. Sadly, it’s not uncommon for large law firms to make key decisions in cases based on what yields the highest attorney fees, rather than what’s best for the client. That’s not what you get with CLT & Associates. We will always work for what is in our client’s best interests.

Every case carries with it a unique set of circumstances and challenges. With a free initial consultation at our Tacoma injury law firm, we can answer many of your questions, including:

  • The viability of your claim;
  • The estimated value of your case;
  • What you can expect from the process as we work through the civil justice system.

No injury attorney can promise a guaranteed result. What we can promise is that with us, your case won’t fall through the cracks. At CLT & Associates, every client matters. We won’t accept low-ball settlement offers from insurance companies. We won’t push off your concerns off to a paralegal. We pride ourselves not just on skill, but client-centered service and results.

SERVICES

ABOUT THE ATTORNEY

Attorney Christopher Thompson launched his legal career at a small law firm, working alongside some of the best and brightest litigators in personal injury law, criminal law and family law. He later employed those skills representing major financial institutions and insurance companies, deftly navigating complex litigation, managing expert witnesses and incorporating complicated subject matter into each defense. Those lessons now serve him well as he returns to a boutique law office setting, serving personal injury clients in the Tacoma/ Seattle region at CLT & Associates. With a unique understanding of how insurance companies and big businesses handle these claims, Thompson has an advantage in helping you obtain the best outcome.

How We Work

We pride ourselves on working closely with each client for desired results in your Washington personal injury claim. In some situations, favorable outcomes don’t require litigation. Negotiation of fair settlements can be achieved without filing a lawsuit. However, it’s not unusual for insurers and other defendants to put up a vigorous fight. They may insist your injury wasn’t their fault or you weren’t hurt to the extent you say. At CLT & Associates, we recognize the strategies these firms use, and we know how to effectively fight back. Satisfied clients have included those with injuries or lost loved ones due to car accidents, premises liability, dangerous products/ recalled vehicles and medical malpractice. Although there are a few instances wherein you may be able to handle a claim on your own, it’s not a chance you can take in matters of serious injury or death. Too much is at stake.

Some of the scenarios wherein you need an experienced Seattle injury lawyer include:

  • Insurance company refuses to pay for injuries;
  • Injury resulting in substantial medical costs;
  • Long-term or permanently-disabling injuries;
  • Injury/ illness due to negligence by doctor, nurse, hospital, pharmacist or other health care provider.

We work on a contingency fee basis, which means you pay no attorney’s fees unless we win.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Distinguishes CLT & Associates from Other Washington State Injury Law Firms? 2017-07-05T19:01:37+00:00

We are proud of our client-centered approach. We are concerned not only with our client’s immediate needs, but also with their needs well into the future. Unlike many larger law firms (and some smaller firms too), we carefully review our client’s situation and circumstances and make recommendations not based on our bottom line, but your best interests.

What Should I Look for in a Tacoma Injury Attorney? 2017-07-05T18:15:08+00:00

Experience and skill are important. A proven track record of success is something about which you should inquire. Beyond that, you need an attorney who promptly returns your calls, listens to you and is dedicated to attaining the best possible outcome in your case. You also need someone with whom you feel comfortable. Remember: This is someone with whom you’ll be working with likely for several months, if not longer. Make sure it’s someone with whom you can develop a rapport and trust.

Do I Really Need an Injury Attorney? 2017-07-05T18:13:25+00:00

It’s understandable after a Tacoma auto accident or botched medical procedure to want to settle a matter quickly and move on. It can be tempting to try to handle the situation on your own, especially if the insurer has already made a settlement offer. What is important to understand is there are many pitfalls to handling your own legal case. At CLT & Associates, we fight not only for you to recover compensation, but for you to recover full compensation. It is common for insurers to take advantage of claimants. We make sure you’re getting a fair deal. If you’re not, we’ll fight for it.

Do I Have a Case? 2017-07-05T18:10:34+00:00

That depends on so much. In a typical injury lawsuit, we will look to see whether another person was negligent in causing your injuries. That means looking at whether he/ she owed you a duty of care, whether that duty of care was breached and if that breach proximately caused your injuries. We will also examine the possible damages to which you may be entitled and how likely it is the tortfeasor (wrongdoer) will be able to pay. In medical malpractice cases, we will look to see whether the health care provider in question breached the accepted standard of care for his/ her practice area. That is sometimes a complex question that may require additional investigation. In both scenarios, the statute of limitations is 3 years, per Wash. Rev. Code § 4.16.350(3) and Wash. Rev. Code § 4.16.350(2).

What Information Can an Injury Lawyer Provide in a Free Phone Consultation? 2017-07-05T18:06:55+00:00

This phone consultation is where we will explore with you the possible strengths and challenges of your case. Based on the facts you provide, we will give you a sense of the claim’s viability, how long the case may take to litigate, whether it’s more likely to be resolved in settlement negotiation or if litigation will be required, what kinds of costs you can expect and how much (ballpark) compensation you might expect if you win.

How Much Is This Going to Cost Me? 2017-07-05T18:09:27+00:00

We understand financial concerns are a top priority if you have suffered a personal injury in Tacoma. After all, you’re likely already facing a mountain of medical bills and lost time at work. We offer a free initial consultation. Thereafter, our services are contracted on a contingency fee basis. This means you incur no losses/ are under no obligation to proceed after the initial consultation. If you do proceed, you won’t pay attorney’s fees unless we are successful in your claim. We will contract with you for a percentage of your final settlement or verdict, to be paid only if we win. RPC 1.5 stipulates injury attorneys in Washington state may not charge fees that are unreasonable. Note that in many cases, the involvement of an injury lawyer lets insurers and defendants know you’re serious. Hiring an experienced injury attorney is often your best chance of recovering what is owed to you. When people ask, “How can I afford a lawyer?” the answer is often, “You can’t afford not to.”
